The Madison Township IAFF Local 2507 has a long history of strong union support dating back from its inception date of charter on March 29th, 1976. Local 2507 started with nine members who already had years of service as volunteer, part time, and or full time status current at that time. We are charted through the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) and the Ohio Association of Professional Fire Fighters (OAPFF). The IAFF is members of both the American Federation of Labor & Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) and the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC).

Today, Local 2507 has 50 members led by an Executive Board made up of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. Within the organization, special committees aid the Executive Board in negotiations, insurance talks, grievances, labor talks, community activities, and other local needs. As an organization, we understand it takes a strong membership working collectively to be successful in maintaining the benefits and working conditions acquired over the last four decades.

Local 2507 strives to stay active in the community and give back to the community it serves. Several of the activities where we give back to the community involve hosting an Easter egg hunt and providing families in the community Christmas gifts and dinner. Additionally, we have aided the Motts Military Museum and the BrockStrong Foundation in their fundraising events. A fund raiser we are particularly proud of was immediately after the September 11th, 2001 World Trade Center attacks, where through community assistance, we raised over 25,000 dollars for the FDNY Widows and Orphans Fund. As part of the IAFF, Local 2507 participates in fundraising for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), helping in making the IAFF one of the largest fundraising organization for the MDA.

Every three years Local 2507 sits down with Madison Township administration and collectively bargains for salaries, insurance benefits, vacation and sick time, operational manpower staffing, and most importantly, fire fighter safety. It has come to the forefront of attention of the IAFF and its affiliate’s recognizing fire fighter and EMS provider safety and wellbeing. The primary focuses are cancer prevention and behavioral health issues. And, its Local 2507’s wishes to ensure that its members are protected and cared for while active and after retiring.
